Don’t Forget To Flush

A coolant flush, also known as a radiator flush or cooling system service, is crucial for maintaining your vehicle's engine health and preventing costly damage.

Here's why it's so important

Prevents Overheating: Coolant absorbs engine heat and transfers it to the radiator. Over time, contaminants reduce its effectiveness, risking engine overheating and damage to components like the head gasket and cylinders. A coolant flush keeps the system clean and ensures your engine stays at a safe temperature.

Removes Rust and Deposits: As coolant ages, it loses its anti-corrosion properties, allowing rust and deposits to build up, which can restrict flow and cause leaks or blockages. A flush removes these contaminants, preventing corrosion and ensuring optimal system function.

Protects against Corrosion and Acidic Coolant: Old coolant becomes acidic, accelerating corrosion and damaging engine parts. A flush replaces it with fresh coolant that protects components with anti-corrosion additives.

Signs of Trouble

Don't wait for the recommended interval if you notice signs of potential cooling system problems, including:

Engine overheating or the temperature gauge nearing the danger zone.

Leaking coolant (often appearing as blue or orange fluid under the car).

Hissing sounds or steam coming from under the hood.

A sweet smell (like maple syrup or butterscotch) originating from the engine, which can indicate burning antifreeze.

Discolored or murky coolant when checking the reservoir.

A malfunctioning heater.

Low coolant warning light.
